For a seafront stay in one of Britain’s most popular seaside resorts, The Gresham Guest House is simply and stylishly perfect.
It stands an eight second dash from the sandy beach and within 10 minutes’ walk of the historic harbour, buses, boat trips and a plethora of shops, bars and restaurants. After being taken over just last year by a keen and welcoming family, it has been freshly refurbished throughout and recently awarded 4 star rating by Visit England.
The Gresham has twelve guest bedrooms including single, double, twin and family rooms for up to five, all either en-suite or with private bathrooms. Four have sea views and all have super-comfy beds and tea and coffee making facilities. Built as a gentleman’s residence in 1827, this is a listed building teaming period elegance with modern amenities and great breakfasts made with quality locally sourced ingredients.
In holiday season, family-friendly activities are available on the doorstep, from pedalo hire to epic sand sculptures. Many people visit Nothe Fort, built to protect the naval harbour at Portland but now both entertaining and educating the public with its underground passages, museum, parade ground and artillery.
Weymouth is also a great base for exploring the Jurassic coast, landmarks such as Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove and following the Thomas Hardy trail of nearby Dorchester, aka Casterbridge.
Info page for trains, busses, accessing the Gresham if you have mobility difficulties.
All guest rooms have been redecorated and we strive to upgrade to a higher standard.
A range of 12 rooms to suit most people, from singles to family rooms sleeping up to five.
